An Urbana man is being recognized for taking action during a critical situation that officials say could have ended tragically without intervention.

Cameron Fulling received a Letter of Commendation from the Champaign County Sheriff’s Office and the Urbana Police Division for his actions on the morning of December 22, 2025. Authorities say Fulling became aware of a situation involving a man who appeared to be in serious distress at a residence in Urbana. Rather than ignoring the warning signs or assuming someone else would step in, Fulling contacted law enforcement to report his concerns.

Deputies and officers responded to the area, located the individual, and ensured he was safely transported to a medical facility for evaluation and treatment. Officials emphasized that the call allowed first responders to reach the scene quickly and provide help when it was most needed.

In the commendation, law enforcement leaders highlighted the importance of community awareness and speaking up when something does not seem right. They praised Fulling’s actions as an example of how residents can play a vital role in protecting the safety and well-being of others, noting that early intervention can save lives and prevent emergencies from becoming tragedies.
