Vandall arrested after threats and confrontation with police

The West Liberty Police Department reports that a local man was arrested Saturday after making violent threats and resisting officers during a confrontation.

Police say 39-year-old Jonathan Vandall of West Liberty had been acting erratically throughout the morning, with friends and family expressing concerns for his health.

Vandall allegedly sent a series of threatening text messages to his employer and a woman, including threats to burn down a home and rob the Shell gas station in West Liberty.

Officers attempted to find Vandall throughout the morning.

Around 1:30 p.m., he was spotted walking along Township Road 7.

When approached by law enforcement, Vandall became combative and made verbal threats toward officers.

Logan County Deputies and West Liberty Police say Vandall resisted arrest before being subdued and taken into custody.

He was evaluated by EMS at the scene before being transported to the Logan County Jail.

The West Liberty Police Department has requested multiple charges, including:

  • Two counts of aggravated menacing
  • Seven counts of persistent disorderly conduct
  • Two counts of telecommunications harassment
  • One count of resisting arrest
  • One count of obstructing official business

The case remains under investigation, and police note that additional charges may be filed.
