A dedicated group of local veterans took a big step toward honoring the brave men and women who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces with the official groundbreaking of The Veteran Monument Project on Sunday.
The initiative is working to raise $45,000 to fund a permanent memorial that will be located near Mary Rutan Park in Bellefontaine.
Organizers say the monument will serve as a place of reflection, respect, and remembrance — a space where veterans, their families, and community members can gather to honor the sacrifices made in the name of freedom.
The group continues its fundraising campaign, which project coordinator David Lamb says is nearing its goal, but still needs additional support to reach the finish line.
Community members are encouraged to contribute.
Donations can be made via Venmo or by visiting Richwood Bank to contribute directly to the project’s account.
Every dollar brings the community closer to creating this lasting tribute to those who served.
