Veterans Day is tomorrow, but there are a lot of celebrations happening today.
Riverside Local Schools will host a Veteran’s Day Breakfast and Assembly. Breakfast will be served for all community Veterans beginning at 8 o’clock this morning, followed by an assembly at 9. All Veterans and their families are welcome to attend. You are asked to check in at the office upon arrival.
Indian Lake High School Key Club and FCCLA members will team up to serve lunch, present a short program, and then invite the special guests and their families back into the auxiliary gym for photos and fellowship with the students and staff. The Veterans Day Celebration at ILHS is at noon.
You are asked to RSVP by calling the high school office at 937-686-8851. Be sure to tell them your name and branch/rank in the military.
The Champaign Family YMCA’s Daycare students, teachers, and staff are looking forward to their Veterans Day Brunch. The staff will serve free pancake and sausage brunch to veterans from 10 am until 1 in the YMCA lobby. This event is an open invitation to local veterans – as well as to the families of the veterans who have passed away.
Tomorrow, Benjamin Logan High School’s Student Government will hold its Veteran’s Day breakfast and honoring ceremony. The breakfast is at 8 with the ceremony to follow at 8:45. You are asked to RSVP by calling the school at (937) 592-1666.
At 11:11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 11, the Honor Guard and Color Guard perform a flag raising at the courthouse, and fire three volleys. The ceremony will proceed to Holland Theatre, where American Legion Post 173 Commander Wes Carmen, Mayor Ben Stahler, and guest speaker Tim Deardorff (Staff Sergeant U.S. Army – Operation Enduring Freedom/Operation Iraqi Freedom) will all speak. Deardorff is a Benjamin Logan High School graduate.
The Lakeview Business Group will be hosting a FREE LUNCH to HONOR VETERANS, at Amvets Post #39 in Lakeview.
This FREE lunch, provided by Woody’s Diner, with desserts by Lakeview Business Group, will be held Friday, November 11. All veterans and their spouses are welcome. Delivery to vets may be requested by calling Shari Stevens at 937-539-1017 or Melissa Bosley at 937-539-6370.
On Saturday, the American Legion Harold Kerr Post #173 will be hosting a free dinner for all veterans and their spouses at noon.
Shelly Kneece, who is a Veterans Service Officer in Bellefontaine, will be a guest speaker.
