Bellefontaine gained its newest tribute to local service members on Saturday morning, as community members gathered for the unveiling of a striking new veterans monument.
In front of several dozen people, organizers revealed three beautifully crafted monuments honoring the men and women who have served in the United States Armed Forces.
The memorial stands as a permanent reminder of the sacrifices made by veterans throughout history and serves as a place of reflection and gratitude for generations to come.
Organizer David Lamb talks about the project:
The dedication ceremony drew veterans, families, community leaders, and residents from across Logan County.
Attendees stood in silence as the stones were unveiled, many pausing to reflect and pay their respects.
Speakers at the event expressed gratitude for those who served, noting that the new memorial not only recognizes past sacrifices but also stands as a symbol of unity and appreciation for future generations.

The new Veterans Monument is complete, and the community is invited to its unveiling and dedication ceremony this Saturday at 11 a.m. in Mary Rutan Park.
Located across from Hoffman Municipal Pool and next to the Vietnam Memorial, the monument will be formally dedicated to the City of Bellefontaine in honor of all who have served, those currently serving, and future members of the U.S. military.
The monument recognizes all wars and conflicts following Vietnam and pays tribute to every branch of the armed forces.
It also includes special pavers in remembrance of 9/11 and in recognition of the “22 A Day” initiative to raise awareness of military suicide.
The $45,000 project was funded entirely through community donations and began taking shape in February 2025.
Saturday’s event will feature music, a guest speaker, and the official unveiling of the monument.
Organizers encourage the public to attend and join in honoring the service and sacrifice of military men, women, and canine service members.
