As election season approaches, voters in villages across Logan County will see several local offices on the ballot this fall.
Many positions are contested, while others remain unfilled.
Here’s a look at the certified candidates and write-ins:
- Belle Center (4 council seats) – Robert James, Anita Legge. Two seats remain vacant.
- DeGraff (4 council seats) – Heidi Duckro. Three seats remain vacant.
- Huntsville (4 council seats) – No candidates filed.
- Lakeview (4 council seats) – Jeffrey Hertig, Clayton Hooker, Ryan Shoffstall, Todd Mackesy (Write-In).
- Quincy (4 council seats) – Sheryl Hatfield. Three seats remain vacant.
- Rushsylvania (4 council seats) – Sarah Eagy, Cole Harbour. Two seats remain vacant.
- Board of Trustees of Public Affairs: Eric McCreary.
- Russells Point – Mayor (unexpired term ending Dec. 31, 2027): John Huffman.
- Council (4 seats): Judith Elleman, Greg Iiams, Rebekah Smith, Elizabeth Gibson (Write-In).
- Valley-Hi – Commissioner: Eric McCreary.
- West Liberty (4 council seats) – Jayne Griffith, Trent Spriggs. Two seats remain vacant.
- West Mansfield (4 council seats) – Michael Duncan, Libby Wykstra, Derrick Detrick (Write-In). One seat remains vacant.
- Zanesfield – Mayor (unexpired term ending Dec. 31, 2027) and 4 council seats are on the ballot, but no candidates were certified.
Under Ohio Revised Code 741.43(A), vacancies are filled by appointment from the remaining council members.
If a council does not act within 30 days, the mayor may appoint someone.
These vacancies will begin January 1, 2026.
Early in-person voting begins October 7 at the Logan County Board of Elections office, 225 South Main Street, in Bellefontaine.
On Election Day, Tuesday, November 4, polls will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
