Wacky Boat Races return to Indian Lake August 9

The Lakeview Business Group is looking for teams ready to build, float—or maybe sink—in style at this year’s Wacky Boat Races, happening Saturday, August 9 at Lakeview Harbor.

As part of Lakeview Harborfest, the Wacky Boat Races are a crowd favorite, and organizers are calling on local businesses, organizations, families, and friends to get creative and join the fun.

The challenge?

Build a boat using non-marine materials—no motors, paddles, or surfboards allowed—and race it across the harbor using only people power.

Life jackets are required, and all participants must be 18 or older, unless accompanied by an adult.

Check-in starts at 8:30 a.m. and races begin at 10:00 a.m.

Teams are encouraged to arrive early, especially if their boat needs any last-minute repairs.

Whether your crew cruises to victory or capsizes with flair, it’s all part of the fun.

And if you’d rather stay dry, come out and watch the action.

Harborfest will also feature food trucks, shopping, music, and plenty of entertainment along the lakefront.

Teams must register in advance at:
