Two drivers were arrested Thursday by Washington Township Police.

Just before 3:30 p.m., Brandon Loughman of Piqua was stopped on State Route 235 near Township Road 215.

Upon making contact with Brandon, signs of drug use were observed.

K-9 Bruno was deployed and alerted to the odor of illegal narcotics.

A probable cause search located methamphetamine inside the vehicle.  Police also found an open container of alcohol.

Loughman was arrested and taken to the Logan County Jail.

He was charged with possession of drugs, open container, and driving under suspension.

At about 9:20 p.m., Kenneth Sparks of Toledo was pulled over on Main Street near Lincoln Boulevard.

Officers noticed signs of impairment.

Sparks refused field sobriety tests.

A search of his vehicle found open containers of alcoholic beverages.

As he was placed under arrest, Sparks began yelling and cursing at officers.

Once at the jail, he was uncooperative and was placed in a restraint chair.

Sparks refused to submit a breath test.

He was charged with OVI.  Additional charges of child endangering and open container were sent to the prosecutor’s office.  Sparks’ 14-year-old son was with him in the vehicle.  The child was released to a family member.
