A boil water advisory has been issued for parts of Bellefontaine as repairs to a water main are underway.

The advisory affects residents in the 300 and 400 blocks of Water Avenue and 315 West Auburn Avenue.

During this time, residents are advised to boil water for at least five minutes before using it for consumption purposes, including drinking, cooking, and brushing their teeth.

Boiling water for at least one minute ensures any potentially harmful bacteria or contaminants are eliminated.

Additionally, if water appears discolored or cloudy, residents are instructed to allow it to run until it clears up before use.

The Bellefontaine Water Department is currently collecting and testing water samples from the affected areas.

The boil advisory will remain in effect until the water department confirms that the water meets safety standards.

Once the issue is resolved, residents will be notified, and the advisory will be lifted.
