A Bellefontaine man is facing multiple charges after an alleged domestic violence incident and operating a vehicle while intoxicated late Thursday night.

Officers with the Bellefontaine Police Department were dispatched shortly before 10:00 PM to a home on reports of a domestic incident.

The female victim told dispatchers that 52-year-old Steven Weaver had left the residence in a silver Ram 1500 and that he had been drinking.

When officers arrived, they spoke with the victim, who said Weaver had been verbally abusive for days.

That night, she told him she didn’t want him sleeping in the bed, which escalated into a heated argument.

She reported that after threatening to call law enforcement, Weaver grabbed her by the upper arm and held her down.

Officers saw bruising on her right bicep that looked like finger marks.

While on scene, officers learned that Weaver had checked into the Super 8 Motel.

Officers located his vehicle in the parking lot of the hotel and spoke with him, and noticed he showed several signs of impairment.

Weaver admitted to arguing with the victim but denied physically assaulting her.

He also admitted to drinking whiskey and said that he had driven himself to the motel.

Weaver was arrested for domestic violence and operating a vehicle under the influence and was then lodged in the Logan County Jail.
