The following is by Student Reporter Troy Gibson from the Ohio Hi-Point Career Center:
The Ohio Hi-Point Career Center expanded its Welding Program on Wednesday with the addition of an innovative mobile training unit.
The program received a 50-foot trailer equipped with state-of-the-art welding technology.
The trailer will serve as a temporary extension of the Welding Program and can be reconfigured to support other career and technical programs as needed.
The mobile unit can also be transported to Ohio Hi-Point’s partner schools, allowing students to learn more about welding opportunities available through the career center.
Ohio Hi-Point’s welding instructor, Mark Barger, gives some insight on how the trailer will be used, how it will expand the welding program, and how it can be used during showcases.
Ohio Hi-Point is excited to use this trailer for upcoming showcases to schools and for schools touring Hi-Point.

The following is a press release from the Ohio Hi-Point Career Center:
The Ohio Hi-Point Career Center has expanded its Welding & Fabrication program with the arrival of a new mobile welding trailer, increasing student capacity and access to hands-on training.
The trailer features eight welding booths and serves up to 16 additional students. Students will train in MIG, TIG, stick, and flux-core welding using industry-standard equipment.
The trailer is also temperature-controlled with AC in the summer and heat in the winter.
The mobile unit will be used while the district completes a planned expansion of its permanent welding lab and will also support OHP’s satellite Agriculture and Manufacturing programs across partner districts.
By bringing the trailer directly to those programs, instructors will have additional space and resources when teaching welding curriculum.
The mobile welding trailer and the building expansion responds to strong student interest and workforce demands, as Ohio Hi-Point’s campus Welding & Fabrication program is consistently waitlisted and local employers continue to seek skilled welders.
