A drunk West Liberty man was arrested in Bellefontaine early Sunday morning around 2:30.

Bellefontaine Police observed Levi Reed, 30, make a wide and improper turn on South Detroit Street. As officers followed Reed, they noted more traffic violations committed.

A traffic stop was initiated.

While speaking with Reed, officers observed signs of impairment.

When asked how much he had to drink, Reed stated he had a couple of beers.

Reed declined field sobriety tests, and stated “I’m going to fail it.”

He was placed under arrest and taken to the Bellefontaine Police Department.

Officers moved Reed’s truck into a parking stall and noticed an open container of Fireball liquor.

A probable cause search was conducted and authorities recovered five additional Fireball liquor shots and an open container of beer.

At the station, Reed consented to a breath test that resulted in a .218, which is just under three times the legal limit (.08).

Reed was cited with OVI, OVI (breath equal or greater than .17), and marked lanes.

He was released to a sober driver.
