A West Liberty man was cited for impaired driving after crashing his pickup truck into a utility pole Sunday night in Champaign County.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, troopers from the Springfield Post were called to State Route 507 just east of U.S. Route 68 in Salem Township shortly before 8:30 p.m. for a single-vehicle crash.
Investigators say 39-year-old Mason Shoemaker was driving a 2016 Ford F-150 westbound on State Route 507 when he failed to negotiate a curve. The truck went off the roadway and struck a utility pole.
Shoemaker was not injured in the crash, which resulted in property damage only.
Following an investigation at the scene, troopers determined Shoemaker was at fault and cited him for failure to maintain reasonable control, operating a vehicle while impaired (OVI), and OVI–High Tier Test, indicating a breath or chemical test result significantly above the legal limit.
The crash remains under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
