A 53-year-old man from West Liberty was killed in a violent rollover crash Saturday afternoon on County Road 1, near County Road 47.
According to the Logan County Sheriff’s Office, Jeffrey Rucker, 53, was driving a 2008 Ford F-150 northbound when his vehicle veered off the right side of the road.
Rucker overcorrected, crossing the center line, then left the roadway again and drove along the ditch before reentering the road and rolling over.
During the rollover, Rucker’s truck struck a southbound 2023 Honda CR-V, driven by Diane Yoder, 63, also of West Liberty.
Yoder had slowed nearly to a stop in an attempt to avoid the crash.
Rucker’s truck came to rest in a ditch on the west side of the road, partially in a standing cornfield.
He was ejected during the rollover and was found around 30 to 40 feet from the truck, inside the cornfield.
Yoder was not reported injured.
The crash remains under investigation by the Logan County Sheriff’s Office.
