West Liberty-Salem is celebrating a major accomplishment as several students and alumni have earned the prestigious Ohio State FFA Degree, while others have been officially approved as candidates for the American FFA Degree.
The State FFA Degree, awarded by the Ohio FFA Association, is the highest honor a member can achieve at the state level. The degree recognizes years of dedication to agricultural education, significant investment of time and resources into Supervised Agricultural Experiences (SAEs), meaningful community service, and demonstrated leadership and academic success.
Earning a State Degree reflects commitment, responsibility, and personal growth developed through active involvement in FFA.
West Liberty-Salem State FFA Degree recipients include Wyatt Bell, Caleb Heater, and Maverick Reames.
In addition, several alumni have been approved as applicants for the American FFA Degree, the highest honor presented at the national level by the National FFA Organization.
The American FFA Degree is awarded to only a small percentage of members nationwide. Candidates must meet rigorous standards, including completion of advanced agricultural coursework, substantial SAE earnings and investments, extensive community service hours, and a proven record of leadership.
West Liberty-Salem American FFA Degree applicants include Kay Connolly, Sophia Hardwick, Sami King, and Shyanne McClintick.
Final results for the American FFA Degree will be announced later this summer. Regardless of the outcome, the achievements represent years of early mornings, meticulous record-keeping, service projects, competitions, and a deep-rooted passion for agriculture.
West Liberty-Salem’s FFA members continue to set a high standard, representing their school and community with excellence and Tiger pride.
