West Liberty-Salem High School honored its newest National Honor Society members during the “Rise Above the Rest” Induction Ceremony on Monday.

The event celebrated the four pillars of NHS—scholarship, leadership, service, and character.

The ceremony opened with a formal procession and introductions from Master of Ceremonies Levi Miller.

NHS Co-Presidents Geneva Estep and Emery Longaberger welcomed guests and reflected on the organization’s mission and responsibilities.

Student speakers highlighted each of the four core values:

  • Leadership: Abbie Thoman
  • Scholarship: Naomi Cole
  • Service: Brock Burgel
  • Character: Alexis Hausler

New members were introduced by Ava Astorino, with gold cords presented by Caleb Larson and certificates by Dylan King.

Kamden Hissong led the inductees in reciting the National Honor Society Pledge.

Principal Dr. Greg Johnson closed the evening by recognizing the accomplishments and dedication of this year’s students.

Several students were also acknowledged for their behind-the-scenes support:
