West Liberty-Salem High School students were recognized for their artistic achievements at the annual Congressional Art Show Reception held in Marion, an event that highlights the work of talented high school artists from across Ohio’s congressional district.

The exhibition is part of the nationwide Congressional Art Competition, sponsored each year by members of the U.S. House of Representatives. The program offers students a chance to showcase their work on a regional level, with the top entry advancing to Washington, D.C., where it will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol for one year.

Due to competition guidelines, each high school is limited to submitting five pieces of artwork, making selection a notable accomplishment. West Liberty-Salem was represented by Geneva Estep, Gwen McCullough, Alauna Kinchen, Caleigha Fasse, and Alexa Cheetham.

Among the group, Geneva Estep earned third place, standing out among entries from across the district.

The Congressional Art Show features a wide range of artistic styles and mediums and provides students with valuable exposure for their work. The reception also gives students, families, and educators an opportunity to celebrate creativity and connect with others who share an interest in the arts.

West Liberty-Salem Schools officials said they are proud of the students for representing the district with creativity, dedication, and Tiger pride.
