Widay awarded Golden Tomahawk at latest Mechanicsburg BOE meeting

The Mechanicsburg Exempted Village Board of Education met in regular session on Monday evening.

The board made two commendations, recognizing the second-place finish by the Dairy Judging team at the Eastern State Exposition. Individual placements are below:

  • Eli Wilson – 4th place individual
  • Jeana Stiles – 6th place individual
  • Mia Conley – 8th place individual
  • Mason Bandy – 9th place individual

Secondly, Jennifer Widay was awarded the Golden Tomahawk for her dedication to the district and the education of the children.

Superintendent Danielle Prohaska talks about the two commendations and reviews the district’s four-star rating on the latest state school report cards.

In other business, the board has approved the following supplemental contracts for the 2025-26 school year:

  • Peyton O’Laughlin – Quick Recall Advisor (50%)
  • Amy Marsh – Assistant Musical Director
  • Bryan Eyink – Head Baseball Coach
  • Bill Mason – Assistant Girls Bowling Coach
  • Lindsay Good – Musical Choreographer
  • Matthew Smith – Musical Director
  • Ashlie Walter – Head Softball Coach
  • Joey Brown – Head Track & Field Coach
  • Madison Sloan – Head 7th Grade Girls Basketball Coach
  • Paul Hershberger – JV Head Girls Basketball Coach
  • Matt Johnson – Assistant Girls Basketball Coach
  • Jessica Kile – Head 8th Grade Girls Basketball Coach

The board will meet next on Monday, November 10, at 6 p.m.
