Saturday evening, Logan County Sheriff Deputies responded to a reported trespassing incident at a residence outside of Bellefontaine.
The victim informed authorities that, Kareem Williams, 35, of Bellefontaine, was at her home despite having a civil protection order (CPO) against him.
Upon arrival, law enforcement officials confirmed the CPO and spoke with the victim, who said she had allowed Williams to retrieve some of his belongings.
However, when he refused to leave, he allegedly destroyed one of her phones by throwing it to the ground.
Officers found Williams in a bedroom where he was coloring.
Deputies attempted to serve the CPO, but Williams ignored commands to sign the service slip and exhibited agitation.
Despite instructions to cease his actions, Williams dismantled a bed that he claimed was his, tossing the pieces outside into the mud and rain.
As the situation escalated, the victim requested that Williams return her second phone.
He responded with hostility, saying, “Don’t talk to me.”
After packing a trash bag with his belongings, Williams didn’t return the phone.
Law enforcement instructed him to hand over the stolen phone, but he refused and attempted to walk away.
Ultimately, Williams was placed under arrest.
A search of the trash bag he had dropped revealed the stolen phone, valued at $2,200, and two packages of Suboxone, which he also allegedly took from the victim.
Williams was taken into custody and transported to the Logan County Jail, where he faces charges of theft and criminal damaging.
