Bellefontaine is celebrating one of its own in a big way this week.

Lane Wisner — a proud Bellefontaine High School graduate and Ohio State University alum — is officially stepping into a lifelong dream of serving his hometown.

Wisner wrapped up his training at the Ohio Fire Academy on Friday, marking a major milestone.

Now, just a few days later, Thursday morning, he raised his right hand and was sworn in as the newest member of the Bellefontaine Fire Department.

And as if a new career wasn’t enough, he’s also tying the knot this Saturday — making this one of the biggest and busiest weeks of his life.

Becoming a firefighter runs deep in the Wisner family.

Lane follows in the footsteps of his father, Mike Wisner, who spent 22 years with the department before retiring.

Now, Lane is proudly carrying that legacy forward.

And the department’s growth doesn’t stop there.

Two more firefighters will be sworn in at the Bellefontaine City Council meeting this coming Tuesday.

The ceremony will take place in council chambers at 7:30 PM.
