Officers from the Bellefontaine Police Department were dispatched, along with the fire department, to a room at the Super 8 Motel in reference to a possible overdose Wednesday evening around 6:40.
Upon arrival, the caller, identified as Cassandra Smith, 30, reported that the male was found leaning off the bed having a possible seizure.
When officers went into the room, the victim was on the floor, unconscious with a rapid pulse. Medics quickly arrived and began treating the male and proceeded to the hospital.
Police asked Smith if the male had used anything illegal, and she said they had both used cocaine earlier in the afternoon.
Smith said she was in the bathroom and came out to find the victim in this condition.
On the bathroom floor, in plain view, a small plastic baggie was found that contained a white residue on it, consistent with cocaine. There was also a plastic cigarette pack wrapper in the bathroom trash can that contained a white residue.
Smith said the plastic that contained the white residue on it was probably the cocaine they had used earlier in the day.
She said no other illegal narcotics were in the room.
Smith consented to a search of the hotel room and nothing additional was located.
When asked if she had anything hidden on her person, she stated no, but became very concerned about going to jail.
She confirmed to be out on bond per her own admission.
Smith was placed under arrest and was told to put her hands behind her back. She stated “wait, wait, wait,” and removed a glass vial and a crack pipe from her body and threw them on the bed.
The glass vial contained pieces of a blue pill and a piece of a yellow pill.
Smith was transported to the Logan County Jail and lodged on a felony of the 5th degree for possession of cocaine and possession of a schedule IV drug.
The suspected cocaine was field tested and was positive. The blue pills were identified as Alprazolam, a schedule IV drug. The yellow pill was unable to be identified due to being a small piece.
All narcotics will be sent to the lab for further analysis.
