According to Bellefontaine Police, Vincent Thomas, 46, of Zanesfield, was arrested Thursday afternoon after being caught drinking alcohol while driving.
A witness called the Bellefontaine Police to report a man drinking a beer in his car.
The caller said the man had parked in a handicapped spot at the McDonald’s parking lot on North Main Street.
When police arrived, they found Thomas sitting in his car with an open beer can in the cup holder.
Thomas smelled strongly of alcoholic beverages, and his eyes were bloodshot.
He admitted to drinking the beer but claimed it was the only drink he had.
Officers conducted field sobriety tests, which Thomas failed.
When officers told Thomas he was being arrested for driving under the influence, he resisted but was eventually handcuffed and taken into custody.
At the police station, Thomas blew a breath test nearly two times the legal limit.
He was cited for OVI and for having an open container of alcohol in his car.
Thomas also faces a resisting arrest charge.
He was lodged in the Logan County Jail.
