On Thursday afternoon, Bellefontaine Police responded to a domestic dispute at Heritage Court.

Dispatch reported that the female resident had fled to a neighboring apartment after a domestic altercation.

Upon arrival, officers spoke with the female resident, who was staying at the neighboring apartment.

The victim reported a heated argument with 24-year-old Bryce Zirkle.

She told police that Zirkle became aggressive, dumping trash and clothing throughout the apartment and damaging her belongings.

The victim then stated that the confrontation escalated physically when she accidentally shut Zirkle’s hand in a metal safe.

He then allegedly grabbed her by the neck and pushed her against a wall, making it difficult for her to breathe.

She reported that he also hit her head against the wall and threatened her life.

A medic arrived and treated the victim at the scene before she was transported to Mary Rutan Hospital for further evaluation.

Deputies located Zirkle nearby on Ludlow Road and transported him back to the scene for questioning.

He acknowledged the argument and the incident with the safe, but denied physically assaulting the victim.

Zirkle admitted to making threatening statements in anger and said he left the apartment to de-escalate the situation.

He reported a hand injury sustained during the incident.

Officers placed Zirkle under arrest for strangulation and transported him to the Logan County Jail.

The victim was issued a summons for domestic violence, with a scheduled court date later this week.
