Lady Chiefs and Lakers earn thrilling victories; more Wednesday night girls hoops

VARSITY GIRLS — Bellefontaine 44, Kenton Ridge 42

In a gritty, down-to-the-wire battle, the Bellefontaine Lady Chieftains held off Kenton Ridge for a 44–42 victory.

Mia Brown led the way with 13 points, while Hailee Lamb added 12 points and pulled down five rebounds. Grace Brown contributed 8 points and grabbed an impressive 10 rebounds in the team effort.

JV GIRLS — Bellefontaine 35, Kenton Ridge 31

The JV Lady Chieftains also earned a win over Kenton Ridge, taking a 35–31 victory.

Cameo Greene paced Bellefontaine with 16 points to lead the offense.

8TH GRADE GIRLS — Bellefontaine 31, Bethel 23

The Bellefontaine 8th-grade Lady Chieftains improved to 4–2 on the season with a 31–23 win over the Bethel Bees on Wednesday night.

Bellefontaine jumped out to a 9–5 lead after the first quarter with four different players contributing offensively. Bethel responded in the second quarter, tying the game at 13–13 at halftime.

The Lady Chieftains delivered their best stretch in the third quarter, erupting offensively and outscoring Bethel 16–1 to take a commanding 29–14 lead heading into the final period. Bellefontaine closed out the contest in the fourth to secure the victory.

7TH GRADE GIRLS — Bellefontaine 25, Bethel 7

The 7th grade Lady Chiefs picked up a convincing win over the Bethel Bees, improving to 5–1 on the season.

Braelynn Neer led the way with 10 points, followed by Myra Varner with 6. Joelle Eaton scored 3 points, while Charley Frazier, Mia Regula, and Alivia Rogan each added 2.

The Lady Chiefs return to action Thursday night on the road at Benjamin Logan.

VARSITY GIRLS — Indian Lake 50, Northwestern 46

The Lakers came out sharp in a conference matchup Wednesday night, jumping to an early lead behind hot shooting from beyond the arc and setting the tone from the opening minutes.

As the game progressed, the contest turned physical, but the Lakers maintained their composure and held on for a hard-fought 50–46 victory over Northwestern.

Kennedy Schwaderer led the Lakers with 15 points, while Carly Strayer added 12. Rya Pequignot chipped in with 8 points, and Hailey Smith finished with 7 to help seal the win.

JV GIRLS — Indian Lake 20, Northwestern 11

The JV Lakers also picked up a win in a two-quarter contest, taking control early and never looking back.

Hailey Smith powered the offense with 14 points, Terra Beltz added 4, and Brylee Buyer rounded out the scoring as the Lakers earned a 20–11 victory over Northwestern.

VARSITY GIRLS — Mechanicsburg 67, Greeneview 28

Mechanicsburg dominated from the opening quarter on the road, building a comfortable lead and cruising to a 67–28 win over Greeneview.

The Indians led 14–3 after the first quarter and continued to extend the margin each period.

Three Mechanicsburg players scored in double figures, led by Bella Batkiewicz with 15 points. Clair Rodgers added 12, and Taryn Stout finished with 10.

VARSITY GIRLS — Cedarville 57, Triad 12

Triad hosted Cedarville on Wednesday but struggled to keep pace, falling 57–12.

Jazz Ford led Triad with 6 points and pulled down 10 rebounds. Lacey Travis added 4 points, and Emma Martin contributed 3 rebounds.

Triad now stands at 0–6 overall and 0–8 in Ohio Heritage Conference play.
