The local boys golf season continued Friday with West Liberty-Salem, Mechanicsburg, Triad, Bellefontaine and Indian Lake all in action.
West Liberty-Salem, Mechanicsburg, Triad and Northeastern competed at Woodland Golf Club, with all four teams playing one nine-hole round. Those scores were then used for multiple head-to-head matchups between the teams. Triad’s Cohen Millice was the lone medalist, shooting a 38, the lowest individual score of the round.
West Liberty-Salem
West Liberty-Salem picked up two wins at Woodland, defeating Northeastern 188-192 and Triad 188-212.
The Tigers were led by Brayden Thompson and Calen Fairchild, who each shot a 45. Eli Jackson followed with a 48, while Carter Henderson shot a 50 to complete the team score.
West Liberty-Salem’s 188 was 24 strokes better than Triad and four strokes better than Northeastern.
Mechanicsburg
Mechanicsburg defeated Northeastern 168-192 at Woodland Golf Club.
Mason Bandy led the Indians with a 39, followed by Maxwell Popovich with a 41 and Ryder Buxton with a 42.
Elliott Moore and MJ Blose each shot 46, while Owen Lawhorn finished with a 48.
Mechanicsburg’s 168 was the lowest team score of the four-team competition.
Triad
Triad finished with a team score of 212 at Woodland, with that score counting in its matchups against both West Liberty-Salem and Northeastern.
Cohen Millice led the Cardinals and was the lone medalist in the four-team competition, shooting a 38. Colton Mullin followed with a 54, Carson Jackson shot a 57 and Hayden Sheppeard finished with a 63.
Triad finished behind West Liberty-Salem’s 188 and Northeastern’s 192 in the combined competition.
Bellefontaine
Bellefontaine dropped a 166-153 decision to Jonathan Alder in head-to-head match play at Darby Creek Golf Course in Marysville.
Hudson Banta led the Chieftains with a team-low 40, tying for third overall. Ean Fultz and Noah Smith each shot a 41 to tie for fourth.
Sammy Strayer rounded out the varsity scoring with a 44. Tyler Rossey shot a 49, while Colson Garver finished with a 53.
Indian Lake
Indian Lake dropped a close 166-173 decision to Miami East. The Lakers are now 2-2 on the season.
Jaxon Snipes led Indian Lake with a 39 and earned medalist honors. Mason Berg followed with a 40, Crew McPherson shot a 44 and Grant Wickline finished with a 50 to complete the team score.
Reid Roberts added a 52, while Eli Cummins shot a 57.
The Lakers also had three JV golfers compete. Jesse Carder and Charlie Stimmel each shot a 52, while Zeke McVety finished with a 54.
Indian Lake will face Northwestern Monday evening at Windy Knoll.
