Area cross country teams compete at Spencerville, Piqua Invites

Spencerville Bearcat Cross Country Invitational

BENJAMIN LOGAN

High School Girls

The Benjamin Logan girls finished fourth in the Black Division with 82 points.

Lucy Wenger led the Raiders with a ninth-place finish in 22:46.7, followed by Mollie Siefring in 13th at 23:30.9.

Elliott Butler placed 17th in 23:53.1, while Shelby Siefring finished 24th in 24:33.8.

Gwendolyn Smith was 25th in 24:33.9, followed by Lottie Bodin in 30th at 25:02.3 and Montana Coleman in 34th at 25:25.9.

High School Boys

The Benjamin Logan boys finished third in the Black Division with 105 points.

Greyson Butler led the Raiders with a 12th-place finish in 19:07.8, followed by Gavin Jordan in 15th at 19:23.6.

Oliver Morris placed 20th in 19:58.5, while Maxwell Troth finished 32nd in 20:41.9.

Cason Lacher placed 37th in 21:21.8, followed by John Tingley in 42nd at 21:46.7 and Michael Berry in 47th at 22:46.0.

Middle School Girls

The Benjamin Logan middle school girls competed at the Bearcat Cross-Country Invitational in Spencerville, racing against athletes from 28 schools.

After a 45-minute weather delay caused by an early morning storm, the girls competed on a wet and muddy course.

Pippa Zvansky led the Raiders with a ninth-place overall finish among 150 runners.

Paige Courtney, Payton Courtney, Avah Berry, Mia Cook, Jediah Tingley, Hope Williams, Otylia Dennis, Alexis Gootee, Ava Nangle and Haedyn Hinkle also competed for Benjamin Logan.

Payton Courtney, Avah Berry, Jediah Tingley, Hope Williams and Otylia Dennis each recorded new personal records.

The Benjamin Logan girls finished 11th overall.

Middle School Boys

The Benjamin Logan middle school boys competed against 180 runners on an even muddier course after running later in the meet.

Every Benjamin Logan runner recorded a new personal record.

Braydon Laird led the Raiders, followed by Waylon Damron, Kolt Hays, Max Schoepfle, Hezakia Archey-Stover and Carlin Curtis.

The Benjamin Logan middle school boys finished 13th overall.

TRIAD

High School Girls

Aubrey Johnson led Triad in the girls Red Division, finishing second overall in 21:13.7.

High School Boys

The Triad boys finished fifth in the Red Division with 139 points.

Henry Beaverson led the Cardinals with an eighth-place finish in 17:58.6, followed by Jacob Johnson in 11th at 18:08.9.

Daniel Ishida-Garwood placed 42nd in 19:48.1, while Hayden Williams finished 60th in 20:54.0.

Noah Humphrey was 62nd in 20:59.0, followed by Chris May in 80th at 22:31.5 and Alex McComas in 93rd at 25:00.4.

CALVARY CHRISTIAN

High School Girls

Avery McCarty led Calvary Christian in the Red Division, finishing 38th in 25:16.7.

Soma Mayumi placed 61st in 29:44.4.

High School Boys

Adly Knox led Calvary Christian with a third-place finish in 17:30.7.

Benaiah Soma placed fifth in 17:40.5, followed by Aydan Knox in 13th at 18:17.1.

Will Bender finished 66th in 21:34.1.

BELLEFONTAINE MIDDLE SCHOOL

Girls

The Bellefontaine Middle School girls cross country team finished fourth out of 27 teams, earning a fourth-place trophy in a field of 150 runners.

Kylie Lowe led the Chiefs with a fourth-place finish in 12:47, a season-best time. Emma Smith placed eighth in 13:11 with a personal record.

Miley McKirahan finished 19th in 14:08, also recording a PR, while Willow Rupp placed 35th in 15:17.

Danica Engle finished 75th in 16:39, followed by Emily Escue in 95th at 17:20, with Escue also recording a PR.

Gemma Rutan placed 120th in 19:04, while Rosie Moreland finished 147th in 27:36.

The Chiefs will compete next Saturday in the Celtic Clash at Dublin Jerome.

Boys

The Bellefontaine Middle School boys finished 10th out of 29 teams in a field of 182 runners.

Camden Vollrath led the Chiefs with a 16th-place finish in 12:10, earning a top-40 award.

Anthony Carter placed 58th in 13:34, while Owen Smith finished 68th in 13:47. Both runners recorded personal-best times.

Daniel Campbell placed 89th in 14:49, followed by Jayden Lambert in 118th at 15:52, a season-best time.

Gunnar Lowe finished 182nd in 30:54.

The Chiefs will also compete next Saturday in the Celtic Clash at Dublin Jerome.

Piqua Invite Under the Lights

Several area cross country teams competed Saturday night at the Piqua Invite Under the Lights, with West Liberty-Salem leading the way with a fourth-place finish in the high school boys race and a seventh-place finish in the girls race.

WEST LIBERTY-SALEM

High School Boys

The West Liberty-Salem boys cross country team finished fourth out of 36 teams at the Piqua Cross Country Night Invitational, scoring 131 points in a field of 269 runners.

The Tigers finished behind Unioto, Versailles and Russia. West Liberty-Salem was the highest-finishing team from the area.

Asher Cole led the Tigers with a second-place finish in 15:54.6. Brayan Gullett placed seventh in 16:13.4, recording a personal record.

Gauge Lee finished 36th in 17:20.6 with a PR, followed by Owen Hardwick in 37th at 17:21.6.

Zeke Longshore placed 52nd in 17:40.1 with a season-best time, while Eric Hoover finished 58th in 17:46.1 and Milo Matthews was 63rd in 17:49.1 with a PR.

The Tigers also had a strong showing in the junior varsity race, finishing second out of 25 teams with 75 points in a field of 264 runners. Russia won the JV team title with 58 points.

Zeke Lauck led West Liberty-Salem with a second-place finish in 18:22.7 and a personal record. Liam Harrington placed eighth in 18:37.4 with a PR, while Raylan Wulf finished 10th in 18:41.6 with a PR.

Zeke Sidders was 21st in 19:04.0 with a season-best time, followed by Walker Williams in 34th at 19:41.1 with a PR.

Zachary Carter finished 62nd in 20:15.4 with a season best, followed by Danny Erne in 67th at 20:18.6 and Isaiah Barth in 94th at 20:51.9.

Connor Watson placed 174th in 23:13.3 with a PR, while Jude Roberts finished 255th in 30:41.3 with a PR.

Overall, the Tigers recorded nine career personal records and three season-best times between the varsity and junior varsity races.

West Liberty-Salem will compete next at the 54th Annual Max Evans Ohio Caverns Invitational on Saturday, September 26.

High School Girls

The West Liberty-Salem girls finished seventh with 249 points in a field of 230 finishers.

Isla Leichty led the Tigers with a 13th-place finish in 19:51.3, recording a personal best. Addi Wallen placed 15th in 20:04.1 with a season-best time.

Elin Leichty finished 30th in 20:21.3 with a personal best, while Elia Matthews placed 78th in 22:05.7 with a season-best time.

Charlee Albers finished 133rd in 23:20.4, followed by Hattie Jacobs in 136th at 23:32.1 and Mia Dooley in 149th at 24:04.5. All three recorded season-best times.

In the open race, which featured 150 finishers, Olive Matthews placed 27th in 24:03.4 with a personal best, while Emily Finch finished 36th in 24:51.9, also recording a personal best.

Middle School Girls

The West Liberty-Salem middle school girls won the team title at the Piqua Invite Under the Lights, finishing first out of 22 teams with 36 points.

Versailles finished second with 90 points, followed by Anna with 136, Russia with 140 and Tipp City with 142.

Nika Matthews won the individual race in 12:03, setting a new personal record and breaking the course record. Elayna Hoover finished second in 12:06.4, also breaking the course record.

Lilly Woodruff placed sixth in 12:40.5 with a PR, while Iris Meister finished ninth in 12:52.7, also recording a personal best.

Paisley Strapp finished 19th in 13:24.2, followed by Neema Smucker in 23rd at 13:37.2 with a PR.

Ellie Louth placed 78th in 15:09.5 with a personal record, while Kynslie McIntosh finished 149th in 16:35.7.

The race featured 271 total runners.

Nika, Elayna and Caizen Anders were recognized on the awards stand following the meet, with each receiving a plaque or medal.

Middle School Boys

The West Liberty-Salem middle school boys also won the team championship, finishing first out of 26 teams with 84 points.

Russia finished second with 92 points, followed by Bellbrook with 146, Piqua with 147 and Versailles with 190.

Caizen Anders led the Tigers with a third-place finish in 11:12, recording a personal record.

Archer Anane-Sefah placed 11th in 11:36.7 with a PR, while Joel Hoover finished 15th in 11:48.9.

Ozzy Anders placed 28th in 12:07.4, followed by Harrison Sutherin in 30th at 12:12.3 and Cooper Thompson in 32nd at 12:14.6.

Isaac Falloon finished 40th in 12:35.3, while Braxton Louden placed 47th in 12:43.1.

Jack Troyer finished 69th in 13:06.6 with a PR, followed by Jackson Barth in 73rd at 13:08.8 and Mason Hinds in 75th at 13:10.5.

Jett Ziegler placed 114th in 13:49.1 with a PR. Gabriel Wilson finished 192nd in 15:01, while Jordan Griffith was 225th in 15:33 with a personal record.

Maddax Dobberstein finished 244th in 16:03.0, followed by Ayden Henson in 282nd at 17:01.1.

Josey Fullenkamp placed 309th in 17:54.3, while Reuel Matthews finished 323rd in 18:33.5.

The boys race featured 356 total runners.

West Liberty-Salem will compete next week at Cedarville in the Friendship Invitational.

URBANA

High School Boys

The Urbana Hillclimbers finished 23rd with 693 points.

Landon McKellop led Urbana in 115th place at 18:43.6, followed by Levi Zachrich in 118th at 18:48.0.

Sawyer Risner placed 164th in 19:58.9, while Anthony Keeran was 166th in 20:00.0.

Henry Chapman finished 200th in 20:43.3, followed by Landon McKenzie in 228th at 21:43.5 and Connor Moore in 245th at 22:37.6.

High School Girls

The Urbana girls finished 16th with 438 points.

Hazel Lightle led the Hillclimbers with a 33rd-place finish in 20:33.0.

Avery Smith placed 58th in 21:31.2, followed by Olivia MacKendrick in 93rd at 22:22.8.

Sara Hildebrand finished 123rd in 23:08.3, while Meghan Hoskins placed 170th in 24:49.1.

Ellie Blacker finished 210th in 27:26.9, followed by Addison Bass in 211th at 27:34.8.

MECHANICSBURG

High School Boys

Mechanicsburg finished 30th in the boys race with 874 points.

Adrian Miller led the Indians in 121st place at 18:53.1. Dmitri Pack finished 151st in 19:23.7.

Ben Montgomery placed 220th in 21:34.5, followed by Thomas Good in 224th at 21:37.3.

Ethan Schaffner finished 263rd in 24:55.8.

High School Girls

The Mechanicsburg girls finished 15th with 434 points.

Reiner Schaadt led the Indians with a seventh-place finish in 19:25.0.

Elizabeth Shuryan finished 74th in 21:57.8, followed by Blake Rausch in 88th at 22:16.0.

Ayla Picklesimon placed 145th in 23:51.6, while Bailee Eyink finished 156th in 24:22.3.

Jillian Miller was 178th in 24:58.6, followed by Ally Dingey in 195th at 25:58.4.

INDIAN LAKE

High School Boys

The Indian Lake boys competed in the Piqua Night Invitational under the lights on the Piqua school campus.

Nathan White led the Lakers with a 100th-place finish in 18:28.6.

Hayden Kuhlke placed 130th in 19:03.5, while Dalton Young finished 223rd in 21:37.2.

High School Girls

The Indian Lake girls finished 27th with 640 points.

Laura Metzger led the Lakers in 83rd place at 22:08.6.

Alicia Brielmaier finished 111th in 22:53.9, followed by Kayleigh Taylor in 139th at 23:35.3.

Haley Metzger placed 167th in 24:45.9, while Abby Arnett finished 199th in 26:28.8.

The Lakers will race next Saturday at the Eaton Invitational.

Middle School Girls

The Indian Lake Middle School girls competed at the Piqua Night Meet on Saturday, with 307 runners taking part.

Serenity Albert led the Lakers with a new personal record of 17:11, finishing 171st overall.

Makenna Gibbons finished 215th in 18:29 with a new personal record, while Kaylyn Warren placed 237th in 19:45, also setting a new PR.

Raelyn Hoge finished 245th in 20:22, followed by Kenzi Arnett in 252nd at 21:11 with a new PR.

Hailee Schoenberger finished 259th in 22:14 and also recorded a new personal record.

Middle School Boys

The Indian Lake middle school boys competed in a field of 385 runners.

Hayden Thompson led the Lakers with a season-best time of 14:00, finishing 132nd.

Isaac King placed 168th in 14:38.

Carter Flory finished 260th in 16:27 with a new personal record, followed by Owen Flory in 266th at 16:36, also setting a new PR.

Kole Gilliam finished 286th in 17:07 with a new personal record, while Lincoln Nielsen placed 308th in 17:47 with a new PR.

Gunner Rogers finished 332nd in 19:28 and also recorded a new personal record.

After racing three meets in five days, the Lakers will return to a more typical Saturday-to-Saturday schedule. Indian Lake’s next meet is Saturday, September 19, at Eaton.

GRAHAM

High School Boys

The Graham Falcons finished 32nd with 895 points.

Jesse Jenkins led Graham in 125th place at 18:56.9, followed by Hunter Demarco in 172nd at 20:06.2.

Brandon Lockery finished 225th in 21:38.3, while Sully Uhl placed 229th in 21:51.4.

Maddex Cushard finished 247th in 22:42.9, followed by Tucker Fenton in 265th at 25:06.9 and Harlyn Putterbaugh in 272nd at 33:45.5.

High School Girls

The Graham girls finished 30th with 789 points.

Harriet Uhl led the Falcons with a 63rd-place finish in 21:40.7.

Adelaide Shearer placed 177th in 24:54.7, followed by Kendall Nichols in 187th at 25:25.1.

Tori Ford finished 225th in 30:19.5, while Lilly Ervin placed 226th in 31:07.2.
