Area volleyball teams in action Thursday

Several area volleyball teams were in action Thursday.

The Benjamin Logan varsity team defeated Shawnee in straight sets: 25-11, 25-18, and 25-5.

Lily Blackburn had 12 kills (hitting .522), and Makayla Williamson had 9 kills (hitting .667).

This success was due to our middles running a stellar first-tempo offense all game.

Mia Staler had 7 aces and Brielle had 6 aces.

The Riverside varsity team fell to Bethel in straight sets: 12-25, 18-25, and 20-25.

Alaina Snow: 12 assists, 7 kills, 2 blocks

Jade Copas: 5 kills, 12 digs

Aubree Huston: led the team in serve receive

The Lady Pirates’ JV team also fell to Bethel in straight sets: 19-25 and 13-25.

Zoey Ransbottom: 2 kills, 1 ace, 7 digs

Shaye McGill: 6 assists

Gillian Knight: 2 kills, 1 ace

Shasta Dunn: 1 ace, 2 digs

Riley Dillon: 1 ace, 5 digs

Briana Bradley: 3 kills, 3 blocks, 1 ace, 3 digs

Fairbanks defeated Cedarville in 4 sets: 25-27, 25-15, 25-17, and 25-11.

The West Liberty-Salem varsity team beat Greeneview in straight sets: 25-20, 25-20, and 25-21.

Leah Ropp – 8 kills, 13 digs, 1 block, 17/17 serving with 2 aces, 11/12 on serve receive

Londyn Loveless – 7 digs, 15 assists, 12/13 serving with 2 aces

Naomi Cole – 2 kills, 2 digs, 3 blocks

Briley Sullivan – 2 kills, 3 digs

Lexy Lee – 1 kill

Chaley Wade – 6 kills, 6 digs, 8/9 serving with 1 ace

Bailey Poppe – 18 kills, 15 digs, 16 assists, 2 blocks, 11/11 serving with 3 aces

Olivia Wilcox – 17 digs, 3 assists, 11/11 serving with 1 ace, 27/28 on serve receive

Ava Poppe – 4 kills, 6 digs, 10/12 serving, 14/14 on serve receive

The Lady Tigers moved to 9-2 on the season and 8-2 in the OHC. Tiger Volleyball with play at Minster on Saturday.

The JV Tiger team also beat Greeneview in straight sets: 25-13 & 25-23.

Lyndee Harrison – 2 digs, 37/37 setting with 15 assists, 6/7 serving with 3 aces

Josie Hostetler – 4 digs, 4 kills, 15/16 serving with 2 aces

Ellah Heminger – 6 kills, 6/7 serving, 6/7 on serve receive

Marisa Smith – 5 digs, 4/4 serving, 16/18 on serve receive

Bexley Wilcoxon – 2 digs, 3 kills, 2/2 serving with 2 aces

Cara Deam – 5 digs, 8/8 serving

Addison Hutton – 2/2 serving

Reagan Bradford – 2 kills

Ava Cole – 1 kill

WL-S JV is now 10-1.

Middle School:

Riverside 7th grade team beat Troy Christian in straight sets: 25-8 and 25-12

Chloe Purtee had 9 points 4 aces, Kenzie Stotler 8 points 6 aces, Clara McGill 7 points 2 aces, Molly Carman 4 points 3 aces, Maddy Bower 2 points 1 ace, Valerie Knight 1 point 1 ace.

The Riverside 8th grade team lost to Troy Christian in 3 sets: 15-26, 25-16, 10-25.

Kenna Johnson had 7 points and 6 aces

Emilee Robinson tallied 7 points and 2 aces

Kara Klingler had 6 points, 2 aces, and a kill

Keira Manahan recorded 4points, 2 aces, and a kill.

Riverside travels to Jackson Center Saturday.
