Area volleyball teams in action – Thursday scores

The Bellefontaine varsity team defeated Shawnee in straight sets: 25-11, 25-13, and 25-22.

Latoya Rogan led the defense with 13 digs, while Kelsie Snapp tallied 10 digs and Reagan Standley and Taylor Banta chipped in with 5 each.

Snapp also added 18 kills and was 8/8 serving.

Rogan was 14/14 serving.

Banta chalked up 12 kills and was 8/9 serving.

Olivia Ullom recorded 5 aces going 13/14 serving and added 2 blocks.

Julia Nelson and Kylie Adams each had 2 blocks.

Madi Zedeker had 17 assists and was 14/14 serving with 2 aces.

Lily Palmer had 15 assists and was 11/13 serving with 2 aces.

The Chiefs are now 11-10 (4-6 CBC).

Bellefontaine’s JV Red team also beat Shawnee in straight sets: 25-15 and 25-9.

Airiana Young led the Chiefs going 23/23 serving with 8 aces, 11 assists, 6 digs, and a solo block.

Gabbe Hoon tallied 6 kills.

Ava Campbell chalked up 3 kills.

Ava Reeves had 89 digs and was 8/9 serving with 2 aces.

Kenzie Flora had perfect serving and 4 digs.

Alexza Clifton had 3 kills, 3 digs, and a solo block.

Kaeleigh Flora had 4 kills, 10 digs and was 6/6 serving with an ace.

The Chiefs are back in action on Saturday when they travel to Benjamin Logan for their last regular season match-up. JV Black begins at 10 a.m.

The Benjamin Logan varsity team beat Northwestern in straight sets on Senior Night: 25-10, 25-9, and 25-20.

Kyndal Cronkleton had 9 kills.

Makayla Williamson had 8 kills and 5 aces.

Brielle Moorhouse had 27 assists and 4 aces.

The Raiders take on Bellefontaine at home on Saturday in the regular season finale.

Indian Lake’s varsity team defeated Urbana in straight sets: 25-9, 25-19, and 25-12.

Allison Kinney was 11/13 serving with 3 aces, 17/20 hitting, 7 kills, 2 blocks, and 3 digs.

Stephanie Altstaetter was 11/13 serving with 2 aces, 13/17 hitting, 5 kills, 3 blocks, 12 assists, and 6 digs.

Megan Kimbler was 7/7 serving, 7/7 serve receive. 2/2 hitting, 1 kill, and 7 digs.

Paige Mefford was 6/6 hitting with 3 kills, 5/7 serve receive, and had 2 digs.

The Pirates end the regular season 7-15.

Riverside will play in the opening round of the tournament on Tuesday, Oct. 18 vs. Franklin Monroe at Troy High School at 7:30 p.m.

The West Liberty-Salem varsity team defeated Northeastern in straight sets: 25-12; 25-21; 25-13.

The Tigers participated in the first Silent Set in Ohio. All proceeds went to Chasing Greatness, Jonni Parker’s foundation. Parker was a volleyball standout from Miami East High School who went on to play at Penn State. Her foundation raises awareness for those who experience hearing loss and helps provide hearing aids to those in need. The first 8 points were silent with cheering on point 9, as #9 was Jonni’s number at PSU.
