The Bellefontaine boys soccer team picked up a big Central Buckeye Conference victory Monday night, shutting out London 2-0 on the road.
The game was scoreless at halftime before the Chiefs broke through in the second half.
Ethan Turner scored 11 minutes into the second half to give Bellefontaine a 1-0 lead. Landon Cook added an insurance goal with 12 minutes remaining, assisted by Grady Graham.
The Chiefs held London scoreless to secure the shutout.
Turner and Cook each finished with a goal, while Graham recorded an assist.
Bellefontaine improves to 2-3-2 overall and 2-2 in CBC play.
Head coach Steve Henry said the victory was an important response after the Chiefs had dropped their previous two games.
“This was a big win. We just came off of two losses that could have really set us back, but we fought from the first whistle to the end. I’m really proud of how they responded!”
Henry also credited London for the progress the team has made this season and said the victory should give his players confidence moving forward.
“London has come a long way and they are having a good season. And I think this will help our boys realize that they can play with anybody in this league.”
Bellefontaine will look to carry the momentum into its next match Wednesday night at Graham. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
