At the Benjamin Logan Early Bird Cross Country meet, the Bellefontaine boys’ team secured the top spot with 42 points, narrowly defeating Emanuel Christian, who finished with 45 points. Tippecanoe and Fairbanks both ended with 95 points, while Benjamin Logan placed fifth with 131 points. Wellington, Urbana, and Greenon rounded out the standings with 147, 170, and 209 points, respectively.
In the individual race, Hayden Maus led the field with an impressive time of 9:49, followed by Jake Moreland in second place with 10:23. Oliver Grandstaff finished 11th with a time of 11:11, and Will Myers was close behind in 12th with 11:12. Elias Abrego placed 17th with a time of 11:17, and Landon Gerwels took 23rd with 11:56.
Other notable performances included Ryan Alexander in 36th place with a time of 12:44, Brenden Murray in 42nd with 12:51, and Zerek Longbrake in 47th with 12:57. Fredy Hernandez and Zeke Finch finished 56th and 57th with times of 14:28 and 14:48, respectively.
The cooler weather contributed to several fast early-season times, and the performance suggests a strong start for the Benjamin Logan team. Emanuel Christian is expected to be a formidable contender in Division 3 this year.
The Lady Raiders finished third overall with a team score of 69, behind Fairbanks and Greenon. Senior Estella Wenger led the team with a strong performance, placing 8th with a time of 13:55. Other key contributors included Hadley Boysel in 12th place (14:23), Lottie Bodin in 13th (14:24), and Scarlett Elliott in 17th (14:35). Elliott Butler and Gwendolyn Smith, both finishing in 19th and 20th respectively, rounded out the scoring for Benjamin Logan, with times of 14:47. Peyton Smith finished 23rd with a time of 14:54.
Additional results included Bonnie Brunson, who placed 24th with a time of 15:00.
