Bellefontaine Chiefs 12U take home Chieftain Classic title

The Bellefontaine Chiefs 12U baseball team had a strong weekend, winning four straight games to become Chieftain Classic champions.

On Saturday, they opened the tournament with a 22-3 win over Ben Logan.

The Chiefs put up 18 runs in the second inning alone.

Hits came from Sawyer Vermillion, Tovan Benton, Parker Artis, Jax Fleming, Brentlee Bach, Briar Barber, Jack Fissel, and Caleb Palmer.

Jax Fleming started on the mound, and JuJu Anderson came in to close.

Later that day, the Chiefs beat Centerville 12U 8-4.

Tovan Benton hit a home run in the first inning, and Will Rob followed with a big hit.

Caleb Palmer pitched a strong game, giving up just two hits, with JuJu Anderson closing it out again.

As the #2 seed heading into Sunday’s bracket play, Bellefontaine faced Centerville again in a close game.

The Chiefs came out on top 9-8, thanks to a walk-off 3-run homer by Parker Artis.

Tovan Benton and Korbin Smith also hit home runs.

JuJu Anderson, Brentlee Bach, and Artis added hits to help seal the win.

In the championship game, the Chiefs took on the Marysville Mitts 11U and came out on top 13-9.

Benton and Smith both homered again.

Anderson, Bach, Palmer, and Vermillion also contributed at the plate.

Next up, the Chiefs head to Marion this weekend to compete in the Marion Merchants Tournament, starting with a matchup against the UC Tigers.
