The Bellefontaine girls tennis team suffered its second loss of the season Thursday, falling to Fairfield 4-1.

The Chieftains’ lone victory came at first doubles, where Brown and Crabtree turned in a dominant performance, defeating Malcolm and Ritcher 6-0, 6-1.

At first singles, Bella Barton battled Holmes but fell 2-6, 3-6. Olivia Warye also came up short at second singles, losing to Mullens 3-6, 4-6.

Oriana Vasquez lost at third singles to Sinclair 2-6, 1-6. At second doubles, Pulfer and Arruza were defeated by Schuyler and Smith 0-6, 1-6.

Bellefontaine mixed up its lineup to give players a chance to compete at different positions. The coaching staff said the team showed a great attitude and continued to play hard throughout the match.

The Chieftains are now 3-2 on the season after a challenging opening stretch. Bellefontaine will look to get back on track Tuesday, August 25, when the team travels to Tecumseh.
