The Bellefontaine girls tennis team came up just short Tuesday, falling to Tecumseh 3-2.
The Chieftains picked up their two victories in singles play. At first singles, Mia Brown turned in a dominant performance, defeating Hofstede 6-1, 6-1.
Olivia Warye also earned a victory at second singles after defeating Gastineau 3-6, 6-2. Warye led 4-0 in the final set when her opponent retired.
At third singles, Bella Barton battled Barcenas in a competitive match but fell 6-7 (4-7), 6-3, 5-7.
In doubles play, Oriana Vasquez and Pulfer were defeated by Gray and Venable 2-6, 3-6 at first doubles. At second doubles, Arruza and Ricks fell to Wood and Grubb 2-6, 2-6.
Playing without standout Rylee Crabtree, the Chieftains continued to compete hard and came up just short against Tecumseh.
Bellefontaine will look to bounce back Wednesday when the Chieftains host Kenton.
