The Bellefontaine girls tennis team opened its season in impressive fashion Thursday, sweeping Lehman Catholic 5-0.
The Chieftains dominated singles play, with all three players earning straight-set victories. At first singles, Mia Brown defeated C. Spade 6-2, 7-6(8) in the closest singles match of the day. Rylee Crabtree followed with a 6-2, 6-3 win over A. Alvarez at second singles, while Olivia Warye delivered a dominant performance at third singles, blanking A. Cox 6-0, 6-0.
Bellefontaine also controlled doubles play to complete the sweep. At first doubles, Vasquez and Barton took the opening set 6-0 before their opponents, Keller and Haskins, retired with Bellefontaine leading 3-1 in the second set. At second doubles, Pulfer and Aruzza earned a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Germmall and Witt.
The 5-0 sweep gives Bellefontaine a strong start to the season as the Chieftains look to build momentum throughout the early portion of the schedule.
