The Bellefontaine High School girls wrestling team turned in an impressive performance over the weekend, placing 9th out of 24 teams at the Bryan High School Invitational.

The Chieftains saw several strong finishes, including Marlee Huffman (5th), Rylyn Hoskins-Rose (3rd), Rosalie Lightle (5th), and Carlee Compton (4th). The team also celebrated the return of Alivia May and Addison Smith, who stepped back onto the mat after season-ending injuries last year and collected a few wins to kick off their comeback.

The high school squad will be back in action this weekend at the Dreamcatcher Invitational at Northwestern.

Bellefontaine Middle School’s girls wrestling team also made the trip to Bryan for the Girls Invitational. While no team scores were recorded, several Lady Chiefs stood out individually. Skylar Rutherford earned a runner-up finish, while Chloe Knox and Kiser Jones each took 3rd. Baya Deal finished 4th, and Emma Buffkin secured 5th.

First-year wrestlers Jessica Brentlinger and Brielle Kerrigan showed strong potential in their early-season debuts, and returning 8th grader Bentley Drake picked up a couple of wins to help lead the group.

The BMS Lady Chiefs will also return to the mat this Saturday at the Dreamcatcher Invitational hosted by Northwestern.
