The annual Church Softball League wrapped up their summer Monday night with a championship game held at Gretna Fellowship Field.
The game featured the #1 seed Gretna (9-0) against the #2 seed Bellefontaine Grace 1 (8-1).
Bellefontaine Grace pulled way late in the game and held on for a 10-6 victory. This is the first Church League Championship for Bellefontaine Grace after two previous appearances in the finals.
Gretna (9-1) finishes as runner-up for the second consecutive season and was making their fourth finals appearance in the last five seasons (2-2).
The Church Softball League consists of teams from several churches in the area. They play a regular season schedule followed by a single elimination tournament to conclude the summer. This year teams came from Bellefontaine Grace (2 teams), Bellefontaine First Church of God, Christ Our King, Cornerstone Church at Huntsville, Goshen Friends, Gretna Brethren, Quest Community Church, and Redemption Bible.
