It was a back-and-forth battle on the floor and under the boards as the Bellefontaine Lady Chieftains took down Indian Lake 42-37 in Bellefontaine Monday night.
Indian Lake held a 13-10 lead heading into the 2nd quarter but was held to just 5 points in quarter number 2.
A last-second shot by junior guard Richiona Burnell gave the Lady Chiefs a 20-18 lead at the half.

In the 3rd quarter, the Bellefontaine seniors took control and extended their lead to 32-25 with Quinlan Zedeker dropping a 3 at the buzzer to end the third.
Indian Lake’s senior forward Mackenzie Dixon answered with a 3 of her own to open the final frame, but it was the stringent defense of Bellefontaine that sealed the deal for the Lady Chiefs.
Coach Meghan Ashcraft was glad to see it take form in her girls.
Zedeker led the Chieftains with 18 points.
Senior guard Tiffany Boop pitched in with 10. For the Lakers, Carly Strayer and Dixon both led Indian Lake with 12 points each.
The win boosts Bellefontaine to 12-8 overall while Indian Lake falls to 12-8.
The Bellefontaine JV team won as well, beating the JV Lakers 30-18.
It was a different story for the Indian Lake boys squad who traveled to London for a make-up game.
Carrying a 6-game win streak into the matchup, the Lakers kept that streak alive, beating the London Red Raiders 61-56.
Sophomore Brodey Reisinger led the Lakers with 27 points. Avery Pequignot added 16 in the Lakers win.
The Laker JV squad fell to London, 57-24.
The Benjamin Logan Lady Raiders traveled to Trotwood Madison to take on the Rams. In a physical and intense game that came down to the final seconds, the Lady Raiders fell short by 1, 49-48.
The Raiders were down by 10 points in the 3rd quarter but fought back and were winning by two with 9 seconds left.
The last-second 3-point shot by the Rams was thrown up at the baseline, banked in from the top of the backboard, and went in as the clock struck 0.
Daylin Varner led with 16 points, Kylie Harner had 13 points, Lahna Cook added 9 points, Aubrey Harris pitched in 6 points, and Molly Siefring and Adilynne Gregg both added 2 points.
The varsity Raiders have their final season game on Wednesday as they travel to Indian Lake.
The JV game begins with tip-off at 6:00 pm.
