Bellefontaine MS girls open with wins; Indian Lake MS boys fall in opener; other MS results

Youth basketball season is underway across the CBC, and several local teams tipped off with strong performances on Monday night. Bellefontaine’s 7th and 8th-grade girls opened their campaigns with impressive victories, Indian Lake’s 8th-grade boys showed tough defensive effort in their debut, and West Liberty-Salem’s boys teams started their seasons with wins over Triad.

The Bellefontaine 8th-grade Lady Chiefs opened their season with a hard-fought 19–12 victory over Indian Lake on Monday night, starting the year at 1–0.

It was a defensive battle early, with Indian Lake leading 3–2 after the first quarter. Bellefontaine answered with renewed intensity in the second, taking an 8–7 lead into the break. The Chiefs then controlled the third quarter, outscoring the Lakers 8–1 to build a 16–8 advantage before closing out the win.

The 8th-grade Chiefs return to action Thursday when they host London.

7th Grade Lady Chiefs Roll to 31–14 Win

Bellefontaine’s 7th-grade girls also earned a strong win Monday night, defeating Indian Lake 31–14.

The Lady Chiefs were led by Alivia Rogan with 11 points, while Mia Regula and Myra Varner each added 6 points to help secure the victory.

Indian Lake 8th Grade Boys Fall in Season Opener

The Indian Lake 8th-grade boys team dropped its season opener at Bellefontaine, falling 37–21. Despite the loss, the Lakers put together an impressive defensive effort but struggled to convert opportunities on the offensive end.

Coaches credited Brady Jackson and Calen McClelland for standout defensive play, forcing turnovers and pulling down key rebounds throughout the game.

Indian Lake 7th Grade Boys Fall at Bellefontaine

The Indian Lake 7th-grade boys fell on the road Monday night at Bellefontaine by a final score of 48–13.

The West Liberty-Salem 8th-grade boys started their season strong with a 38–21 win over Triad.
