Several local middle school volleyball teams were in action Monday night, with Bellefontaine, Benjamin Logan and West Liberty-Salem all picking up victories.
Bellefontaine Seventh Grade
The seventh-grade Chiefs also picked up a sweep against Tecumseh, winning 25-7 and 25-16.
Bellefontaine controlled the match from the service line, with several players contributing aces in the two-set victory.
Bexley Daring led the Chiefs with nine digs and three aces. Devyn Hogan added five digs, two kills, two assists and three aces.
Emma Layman recorded four digs, three kills, four assists, and seven aces, while Miley McKirahan finished with two digs and three kills.
Brooklyn Mosley added two digs, one kill and one ace.
Bellefontaine Eighth Grade
Bellefontaine’s eighth-grade team earned a straight-set CBC victory over Tecumseh, winning 25-22 and 25-16.
The Chiefs used a strong serving effort to help create separation in both sets and close out the match in two.
Braelynn Neer finished with two digs, three kills, and one assist, while Skylar Phan recorded seven digs, one kill and one assist.
Alivia Rogan added four digs, three kills, one assist, and five aces. Arianna Rumer contributed one dig, four kills, four assists and five aces.
Evie Schmidt finished with two digs, three kills, six assists, and five aces.
The Chiefs will return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Kenton Ridge for another CBC matchup.
Benjamin Logan Seventh Grade
Benjamin Logan’s seventh-grade team also earned a straight-set victory, defeating Shawnee 25-18 and 25-10.
The Raiders pulled away in the second set to complete the 2-0 victory.
Benjamin Logan Eighth Grade
The Benjamin Logan eighth-grade team battled Shawnee to a three-set victory, winning 25-22, 22-25 and 25-23.
The Raiders answered after dropping the second set, edging Shawnee in a close third set to secure the match victory.
West Liberty-Salem Seventh Grade
West Liberty-Salem’s seventh-grade Tigers opened their season with a dominant two-set victory over Triad, winning 25-8 and 25-20.
The Tigers were especially strong from the service line, recording 26 aces during the match.
With the victory, West Liberty-Salem improves to 1-0 overall and 1-0 in the OHC.
West Liberty-Salem Eighth Grade
The eighth-grade Tigers also opened the season with a sweep, defeating Triad 25-13 and 25-12.
West Liberty-Salem continued its strong serving performance, recording 17 aces in the two-set victory.
The Tigers improve to 1-0 overall and 1-0 in the OHC following the win.
