Bellefontaine volleyball remains unbeaten in historic win; more scores from Tuesday

The Bellefontaine Chieftains volleyball team continued its dominant run Tuesday night, improving to 7-0 with a straight-set victory over the Urbana Hillclimbers: 25-23, 25-22, 25-15. The win marks the program’s best start in over two decades.

Senior Kelsie Snapp led the charge with a powerful all-around performance, tallying 20 kills, 17 digs, a block, and going a perfect 16-for-16 from the service line with 2 aces. Setter Madi Zedeker orchestrated the offense with 31 assists, while also contributing 10 digs, a solo block, and an ace.

Ava Layman added 7 kills, 7 digs, a solo block, and an ace, while Kaeleigh Flora chipped in with 4 kills and 7 digs. Jillian Ullom anchored the defense with 10 digs. Presley Vigansky served up 2 aces and added 3 kills and 3 digs, and Ari Rangle contributed 2 kills and a block.

The Chieftains will look to keep their unbeaten streak alive Thursday as they host Jonathan Alder in a key CBC Kenton Trail matchup.

Bellefontaine’s JV Red squad came up short in a hard-fought match against Urbana, falling in three sets: 17-25, 25-22, 20-25.

Lexey Brown was perfect from the service line (9/9) with an ace, 3 kills, and a solo block. Alayna Boyd had a strong all-around game with 11 assists, 5 kills, 5 digs, and a solo block. Ava Oppy led the defense with 15 digs and added 7 kills and 3 aces. Zoey Conner contributed 8 kills, 10 digs, and 3 aces. Celine Blinn added 10 digs, and Rosie Lightle had 7.

JV Black also fought hard but fell in three sets: 19-25, 26-24, 17-25.

Rosie Lightle led with 7 assists and 9 digs. Addison Smith added 4 kills, while Lexi McKirahan anchored the back row with 14 digs. Hailey Augustus was flawless from the service line (13/13) with 2 aces and 7 digs. Diana Martinez had 3 kills and 5 digs. Ariane Moser served up 5 aces, going 15/16, and Madilyn Jenkins was 16/17 serving with 3 aces.

 

Benjamin Logan hosted Northwestern for a Mad River CBC volleyball match. The Raiders fought hard but fell to the Warriors in straight sets: 18-25, 22-25, 23-25

The Indian Lake Lady Lakers swept Shawnee across the board, with varsity winning in straight sets: 25-13, 25-13, 25-16.

Offensively, Cami Bailey led with 10 kills and a block. Courtney Altstaetter had 7 kills and 2 blocks. Alivia Kinney and Mackenzie Miller both added 6 kills and Annie Rapp tallied 5 of her own. Addy Roby had a great night with 29 assists and 1 block.

Defensively, Riley Ross led with 15 digs, while Mackenzie Miller and Addison Beck both had 9 digs.

The junior varsity Lakers won: 25-14, 25-18.

Madison Davis led the offense with 8 kills, while Claire Tidwell had a solid night with 5 kills. Layna Nessler had 7 assists. Defensively, Piper Warnecke led with 7 digs. At the serving line, Taylor Duff and Lux Kipker both had 3 aces.

The Indian Lake freshman team won: 25-10, 25-13. Stat leaders are listed below:

Riverside played at Troy Christian on Tuesday, September 2.

Varsity lost 15-25, 24-26, 26-28.

Kara Klingler led the Lady Pirate effort with 9 assists and 7 kills. Zoey Ransbottom added 5 assists. Emilee Robinson earned 7 kills, Makayla Hurley had 6 kills, and Keira Manahan had 4 kills.

The junior varsity Pirates won: 25-17, 25-20.

Ellie Zwiebel led with 4 aces, 2 kills, and 6 assists. Makayla Hurley and Eva Dodds both added 2 kills. Addison Shoe had 7 digs.

 

Calvary Christian dropped a competitive match to Waynesfield-Goshen in straight sets: 25-18, 26-24, 25-23.

Despite the loss, several players had standout performances. Grace Zell led the offense with 22 assists and added 2 aces. Ava Cole was dominant from the service line with 9 aces, while also contributing 7 kills and 7 digs. Bella Titus added 6 kills, and Claire Heater chipped in with 2 aces and 3 kills.

 

The West Liberty-Salem varsity volleyball team delivered a dominant performance, defeating West Jefferson in straight sets: 25-18, 25-9, 25-23.

Leading the way for the Lady Tigers were the following players:
