Bellefontaine teams sweep at Mechanicsburg Quad Meet

The Mechanicsburg High School Quad Meet brought together four area schools for a day full of thrilling track and field action on Tuesday evening. Athletes from Bellefontaine, Mechanicsburg, Riverside, and Springfield ECA battled in sprints, hurdles, distance events, relays, and field competitions. With strong individual performances and deep team efforts, the meet offered plenty of excitement for spectators.

Bellefontaine Boys – 1st place (95.5 points)

Bellefontaine’s boys team dominated across both track and field events, scoring consistently in sprints, distance, hurdles, throws, and relays. Sprinter Kaiden Foulk led the charge, finishing second in the 200-meter dash in 23.41 and winning the 400-meter dash in 52.33, while also finishing second in the 100 dash at 11.76. Dillon Jones contributed a third-place finish in the 200 dash (23.46) and fourth in the 400 dash (55.42), showing the Chiefs’ sprinting depth.

The hurdles were another strong area for Bellefontaine, with Caleb Sechrest taking first in the 110-meter hurdles (15.55) and the 300-meter hurdles (40.98). Terrance Hayes added a first-place high jump of 5-10, along with fourth in the 110 hurdles, helping the Chiefs pile on key points. In the relays, Bellefontaine’s 4×800 team claimed first in 9:00.77, highlighting both speed and endurance.

Middle-distance and distance events also contributed heavily to the team’s success. Jack Wilson earned second in the 1600 run (4:49.10), while Jake Moreland finished fourth (4:57.68). Will Myers and Zeke Finch scored in the 800 run, placing fourth and fifth. Landon Gerwels and Brenden Murray gave Bellefontaine a strong 1-2 finish in the 3200 run, crossing the line in 11:06.28 and 11:09.54, respectively.

Bellefontaine’s field athletes were equally impressive. Derek Greene won the discus with a throw of 108-1, while Hayden Argabright took the shot put at 38-4. Marek Frazier and Braelin Saxton rounded out the top three in the shot put. Additional scoring came from Tristyn Wilson, Cam Rutan, Andrew Myers, Isaiah Walker, and Nick Herrera-Diaz, contributing across events like the high jump, pole vault, and throws

Mechanicsburg Boys – 3rd place (52 points)

Mechanicsburg’s boys had standout moments on the track and in field events. Distance runner Beckett Negley won the 3200 run with a time of 9:32.31, pacing the Indians to important points. Sprinter Austin Haynes had a strong hurdles double, placing second in both the 110-meter hurdles (16.16) and 300-meter hurdles (42.78). The Indians also showed strength in relays, capturing first in the 4×100 (47.50) and 4×200 (1:42.79) relays, thrilling the home crowd.

Field events added to Mechanicsburg’s total. Tevin Mitchell soared to first in the long jump at 19-3.5, and Oliver Smith cleared 11-0 to win the pole vault. Lyric Norris contributed third in the discus (77-5) while also scoring in the 100 (11.98) and 200 (25.02) dashes. Other top-10 finishers included Benjamin Belford, Thomas Good, Myles Blair, Adrian Miller, Carson Propst, Blake Davis, Conley Bogard, and Jackson Stapleton, all scoring points across sprints, hurdles, throws, and vaulting events.

Riverside Boys – 4th place (11 points)

Riverside’s boys earned points mainly in throws and sprint events. Joel Brooks recorded a second-place discus throw of 99-8 and seventh in the shot put. Michael Steineman added fifth in both the 200 dash (25.45) and 400 dash (57.32). Tristin Orsborne scored fifth in the 100 dash and seventh in the 200 dash, while Cruz Parker earned points in the 100 dash, shot put, and discus. Aiden Fout and Brenden Lattimer contributed in distance events, and Joshua Caldwell and Devin Morrison also helped the team reach the top-10 in several events.

Bellefontaine Girls – 1st place (131 points)

Bellefontaine’s girls team was dominant throughout the meet, excelling in nearly every category. Layla Davis led the sprints with victories in the 200 dash (28.71) and 400 dash (1:05.73), while Jilliam Ullum captured the 100 dash (13.53). Callie Shumaker showcased her hurdling skills, winning both the 100-meter hurdles (15.43) and 300-meter hurdles (46.97).

Middle-distance runners Grace Brown and Chloe O’Chocke added crucial points, with Brown winning the 800 run (2:27.66) and finishing second in the high jump (4-2). Leila Hammond placed third in the 1600 run (6:23.19), while Cece Reier claimed first in the 3200 run (13:39.50). Ximena Marquez and Blakely Vollrath also contributed to Bellefontaine’s impressive distance scoring.

Field events were another area of strength. Kaeleigh Flora took first in the pole vault (8-0), and Kelsie Snapp won both the discus (130-3) and shot put (37-1). Ava Layman cleared 4-4 to win the high jump and placed second in the long jump (13-5). Additional top-10 finishers included Cameo Greene, Diana Martinez, Gia Kuba, Brooklynne Kuntz, Maddie Barrett, Ella Fultz, Emma Merrin, Vanessa Friedrick, Maya Shazier, and Annie Clem. Bellefontaine’s relay teams added to the points haul, winning the 4×400 (4:41.88) and taking second in both the 4×100 and 4×200 relays.

Mechanicsburg Girls – 2nd place (44 points)

Mechanicsburg’s girls scored well in distance and relays. Elizabeth Shuryan won the 1600 run (6:04.24), while Ayla Picklesimon added second in the 1600 (6:18.88) and third in the 800 (2:48.73). The Indians’ 4×200 relay team captured first (2:07.34), while Jillian Miller, Ally Dingey, Ava Sexton, Ellie Rutan, Grace Shultz, Willow Bradley, and Kaitlynn Dallas all contributed points across hurdles, sprints, and distance events.

Riverside Girls – 4th place (28 points)

Riverside girls scored primarily in sprints and field events. Addison Shoe placed third in both the 100 dash (14.33) and 200 dash (30.47). Kenna Johnson claimed first in the long jump (14-5), and Madison Schindewolf added fourth in the 200 dash (32.90) and eighth in the 100 dash (15.61). Kathryn Corwin scored in multiple events, including the 200 dash, 400 dash, and 100 dash, while Valerie Knight, Lily Zwiebel, and Aairika Robinson added points in the throws.
