Bellefontaine’s Ricky Smiley and Eli Deal both competed in the OHWAY Junior High State Wrestling Tournament Saturday in Marion at the Marion Coliseum.
Eli Deal went 2-2 on the day at 100 pounds and was one win away from placing. He was originally an alternate but got into the tournament and made the most of his opportunity.
Ricky Smiley qualified for the state meet at 124 pounds in just his second season of wrestling. He was unable to win a match, but gave great effort and grit losing his first match in overtime and his final match 4-0.
