The Bellefontaine youth football teams competed against Shawnee on Sunday with mixed results.
In the junior varsity game, the Little Chiefs fell to Shawnee with a final score of 27-7. Cam Hariston scored a 20-yard touchdown run for the Chiefs and added the extra point, but Shawnee’s defense held strong after the first quarter, preventing further scoring.
In contrast, the varsity Chiefs secured a 10-0 victory over Shawnee. The Chiefs’ defense was outstanding, limiting Shawnee to only three first downs throughout the game. Jax Fleming scored a rushing touchdown, while Braylon Lyburtus completed a pass to Caleb Palmer for the extra point. Additionally, Sawyer Vermillion recorded a safety for Bellefontaine.
The Bellefontaine teams will be back in action as they travel to Graham on Sunday, September 1.
