Three-time Olympic halfpipe snowboarder Louie Vito will make history at the Milano-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games, representing Italy and becoming the oldest halfpipe snowboarder ever to compete in the Olympic Games.

Vito’s Olympic career is one of rare distinction.

He previously represented the United States, including competing at the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics, and now returns to the Olympic stage under the Italian flag, honoring his family heritage and his grandparents’ roots.

At an age when most halfpipe snowboarders have long since retired, Vito continues to compete at the highest international level in a sport traditionally dominated by athletes in their teens and early twenties.

His qualification for Milano-Cortina highlights both his longevity and sustained elite performance.

“This isn’t about changing sides — it’s about honoring where I come from and continuing to push what’s possible,” Vito said. “To represent Italy at a home Olympic Games, after representing the United States earlier in my career, is incredibly meaningful.”

The Milano-Cortina Games will carry special significance as Vito competes on Italian soil, adding a personal dimension to an already historic Olympic appearance.

His return is expected to draw international attention not only for the age milestone, but also for the rare and respectful transition between Olympic nations.

Beyond competition, Vito is widely recognized for his influence on the sport and his presence in mainstream media, including appearances on ABC’s Dancing With The Stars, MTV, and Nickelodeon, as well as recognition from Men’s Health Magazine and the Young Hollywood Awards.

Vito’s Olympic journey continues to reflect the global evolution of sport — proving that excellence, perseverance, and heritage can transcend borders and generations.
