The Benjamin Logan 7th and 8th-grade girls basketball teams opened their tournament play at home on Monday night with impressive victories.
The 7th-grade girls defeated Kenton Ridge 38-13, improving their record to 15-1.
Top performers included Maci Stafford, who led with 12 points, 3 steals, and 1 assist, and Michaelee Hoge, who added 8 points, 16 rebounds, 5 steals, 4 assists, and 3 blocks.
Addy Leonard contributed 6 points, 3 assists, and 1 steal, while Layla Schneider finished with 6 points, 3 rebounds, and 1 block.
The 7th grade girls will return to tournament action Thursday at home against North Union at 5:30 PM.
The 8th-grade girls also earned a solid win, defeating Urbana 40-24, bringing their season record to 13-3.
Jozie Taylor led the team with 13 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals.
Brielle Kline added 11 points, 6 steals, and 4 rebounds, while Paislee Rodenberger contributed 9 points, 4 steals, 4 assists, and 3 rebounds.
Marley Shields had 5 points, 6 rebounds, and 6 steals.
The 8th-grade girls will be back in action Thursday against London at 6:30 PM.
Unfortunately, the 8th-grade Lady Chiefs saw their season end with a 36-30 loss to Northwestern.
Despite the physical nature of the game, the team fought hard until the final buzzer.
Mia Brown paced the Chiefs with 15 points, while Cameo Greene added 6 points.
Rylee Crabtree chipped in 3 points, and Paxton Stewart had 7 steals.
The Chiefs finished the season with a record of 11-4 and have much to be proud of.
The 7th grade Lady Chiefs also ended their season with a 31-21 loss to North Union.
After a 6-6 tie in the first quarter, the Chiefs fell behind in the second and couldn’t recover despite a strong third-quarter push.
Kennedy Hairston led with 9 points, and Gianna Davis added 4 points.
The 7th grade team finished the season with a record of 11-6.
