Benjamin Logan High School honored one of the most accomplished teams in Raider athletics history on Friday, January 16, 2026, during the boys basketball home game against Graham, inducting the 2000 Benjamin Logan Baseball Team into the school’s Athletic Hall of Fame.
The 2000 squad captured a District Championship, finished as Regional Runner-Up, posted an impressive 25–7 record, and ended the season ranked fifth in the state in the OHSBCA Division III Final State Rankings.
“It was great to catch up on the lives of our former players, who have always felt like family,” said Mark Butler, assistant baseball coach for the 2000 team. “I am proud of what we accomplished on the field, and even more proud of the young men they have become.”
As part of the ceremony, team members were presented with their original baseball jerseys from the 2000 season — a meaningful moment for the close-knit group.
One of the most emotional tributes centered on jersey #26. In 2000, former player Micah Gregg passed away unexpectedly, and his number was retired in his memory. During the induction, it was announced that the jersey will be temporarily worn by Micah’s nephew and namesake — the son of Micah’s brother, Nathan Gregg — until his graduation, at which time #26 will be retired once again.
“Wearing Uncle Micah’s jersey for all four years of my high school career will mean more to me than just putting on a uniform,” Micah said. “It feels like I will be carrying a part of him every time I step onto the field. It reminds me of where I come from, the standards he set, and the work ethic he lived by. On hard days, that jersey will push me to keep going, because it isn’t just about representing myself — it’s also about honoring him and my family.”
“The Benjamin Logan Athletic Boosters were proud to recognize this special group,” said Tracy Gregg, president of the boosters. “Seeing former players return and reconnect showed the strength of the Benjamin Logan community.”
Benjamin Logan Schools thanked the many alumni, families, and community members who attended to celebrate the legacy of a team whose impact continues to be felt more than two decades later.
