Benjamin Logan ousts Chieftains

Soli Hughes collected three hits in three at-bats, as the Benjamin Logan Raiders defeated Bellefontaine 9-2 on Wednesday.

Hughes singled in the fifth inning, singled in the sixth inning, and singled in the second inning.

A single by Bryden Morris following a 6-pitch at-bat put Benjamin Logan on the board in the bottom of the first.

A double by Carter Lyden extended the Raider lead to 3-0 in the bottom of the second inning.

The game was suspended due to rain in the 6th inning with Benjamin Logan up 8-2.

Play resumed on Friday.

Morris earned the win for Benjamin Logan.

The starter allowed two hits and two runs (one earned) over five innings, striking out nine and walking four.

Spencer Stolly took the loss for Bellefontaine.

The left-handed pitcher went four innings, allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits, striking out four and walking five.

Adam Tinsman tossed two innings of zero-run ball for Benjamin Logan Varsity Raiders in relief, allowing one hit, striking out one, and walking two.

Aven Caudill led the Chiefs with one RBI.

Jose Sandoval had two hits in four at-bats.

Springfield Catholic Central 7, Riverside 4

Errors led to Riverside falling from the sectional tournament on Friday.

The Pirates fell to Springfield Catholic Central 7-4, even though Riverside out-hit the Irish 9 to 3.

Brody Orsborne took the loss on the mound, going 6 and 1/3rd innings, giving up 3 hits and 4 earned runs, striking out 7.

Landon Purtee doubled, singled, and drove in a run.

Orsborne went 2 for 3 and had an RBI. Gavin Orsborne provided 3 singles.

Hayden Sanford singled in a run.

Riverside finishes the season at 7-16.
