Benjamin Logan routs Calvary Christian in season opener; Bellefontaine MS teams sweep London in Thursday volleyball

Local volleyball teams were in action Thursday, with Benjamin Logan and both Bellefontaine middle school teams picking up victories.

Benjamin Logan 3, Calvary Christian 0

Benjamin Logan opened its home schedule in impressive fashion Thursday, sweeping Calvary Christian in three sets, 25-4, 25-13, 25-9.

The Raiders controlled the match from the opening serve, using strong serving and steady offensive play to build an early lead. Benjamin Logan continued to pull away in each set and never allowed the Spartans to put together a sustained comeback.

Summer Cline led the Raiders with nine kills, while Abby Vance added seven and Storm LeVan finished with five. Avah Miller and Georgia Daniels each recorded three kills, and Nevaeh Fogle added two.

Autumn Cline helped direct the offense with 22 assists and also had nine aces. Leah Dials added three aces, while Kaelin Gibson finished with one.

Adabella Guider recorded a block as the Raiders opened their home schedule with a convincing win.

Bellefontaine 7th Grade 2, London 1

The Bellefontaine seventh-grade volleyball team picked up a three-set victory over London Thursday, winning 25-22, 21-25, 25-19.

The Chiefs battled through a competitive opening set before London answered in the second. Bellefontaine came back strong in the deciding third set to secure the match victory.

Devyn led the team with six kills and also recorded a block, an assist and two aces. Emma added two kills, a block, six assists and an ace.

Bexley contributed five digs, a kill and four aces, while Miley added five aces. Eliza finished with two digs and an assist.

Addy recorded a kill and an ace, while Brooklyn and Harper each added a kill. Lariah contributed two digs.

Bellefontaine 8th Grade 2, London 1

The Bellefontaine eighth-grade Chiefs also defeated London Thursday in a three-set match, winning 25-20, 19-25, 25-23.

Bellefontaine took the opening set, but London answered in the second to force a deciding third set. The Chiefs held on in a close final set to complete the victory.

Skylar Phan led Bellefontaine with 22 digs and seven aces, while Alivia Rogan paced the offense with seven kills.

Arianna Rumer and Evie Schmidt each recorded six assists for the Chiefs.

Both Bellefontaine middle school teams will continue their seasons with more action coming up.
