Benjamin Logan High School senior Kelley Forsythe has announced her commitment to attend The Ohio State University, where she will join the Buckeyes Crew Team. Kelley has been a standout athlete during her high school career, competing in both varsity soccer and swim.

The daughter of Joe and Kim Forsythe, Kelley plans to major in Health Science at Ohio State. She selected OSU for its outstanding academic resources and vibrant campus community.

“I chose Ohio State because of the resources they have. I am not completely sure what my final career will be, but I know that Ohio State will provide me with the resources and opportunities to succeed. I also look forward to being in the city on a large campus with people from all over the country,” Kelley shared.

Before making her decision, she considered several other institutions, including the University of Dayton, Cleveland State, the University of Cincinnati, and Miami University.

Although Kelley did not initially plan to compete in college athletics, that changed during her senior swim season when a conversation with a former Benjamin Logan swimmer, who competed in rowing at OSU, piqued her interest. “She inspired me to look into the sport and see if it was something I was interested in trying,” Kelley said. “After doing some research, I saw an opportunity to try something new and went for it!”

Looking ahead, Kelley is excited to bring her positive attitude and strong work ethic to the Ohio State program. “I have never done crew before, so I hope to give myself some grace as I try something completely new. As for my role on the team, I hope I bring positive energy and team spirit in whatever role I have.”

Kelley’s long-term goal is to work with children in the medical field, and she believes her degree in Health Science will prepare her for a variety of future career paths.
