BHS, BL swimmers set school records at Southwest Ohio Classic

Area swim teams made their mark at the Southwest Ohio Classic this weekend, the largest high school swim meet in the country, as both Bellefontaine and Benjamin Logan delivered record-breaking performances against elite competition. The two-day, multi-site event featured more than 2,000 athletes competing across 11 pools, and local swimmers rose to the occasion by rewriting school record books while posting numerous top finishes and personal bests.

Bellefontaine was led by Brooklyne Kuntz, who set a new school record in the 500 freestyle, while Benjamin Logan saw multiple records fall, including Annika Chappell breaking the 100 IM record, tying the 200 breaststroke mark, and resetting her own 200 backstroke record. Leah Braddock and Landon Braddock also added new school records for the Raiders, underscoring a standout weekend for both programs on one of the sport’s biggest stages.

Bellefontaine Results

The Bellefontaine swim team competed this weekend at the Southwest Ohio Classic, the largest high school swim meet in the country. The two-day event featured more than 2,000 athletes racing in prelims across 11 pools. Throughout the weekend, Bellefontaine turned in strong performances highlighted by numerous personal bests, top finishes, and a new school record.

Brooklyne Kuntz led the way with a standout meet, setting a new Bellefontaine school record in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:23.79. Kuntz finished first in her prelim heat and placed 22nd overall. She also won her prelim heats in the 200 butterfly and 100 butterfly, placed 17th overall in the 200 fly, and added a second-place prelim finish in the 200 backstroke.

Benjamin Logan Results

The Benjamin Logan swim team competed at the Trotwood site of the Southwest Classic, facing 18 other teams. The Raiders posted multiple school records, more than 20 top-10 finishes, and a large number of personal bests.
